During the six months without financial support, Rodrigo had to use all his savings just to get by. In July, during the university break, he had no other choice but to return to work at a hotel to cover his expenses. Standing for long hours only made his condition worse.

At the moment, he is in Tenerife, staying with relatives who were able to take him in. His mother covered the cost of the flight, and a public healthcare doctor who had treated him before offered to help with an intensive physiotherapy program.
