Valrie's Journey to Health

Hi friends! I've debated creating a Fundraising page, but today I decided that there's no harm in asking for help. As many of you know, my mom has been battling Stage 3 carcinoma ovarian cancer (I'm not sure if that's the correct phrasing). Her symptoms came suddenly and rapidly and lead to a very intense surgery that has left her with a colostomy and ileostomy bag as she continues her battle. UC Davis GYN Oncology has taken great care of her through the process, but now the majority of her care is at home. My sister is her primary caretaker and has been trained by the nurses in so many procedures and skills to help my mom. As many of you also know, we believe that the strongest treatment is a mix of conventional Western medicine as well as homeopathic and natural treatments. Conventional Medicine is covered by insurance, but my mom's coverage doesn't include anything outside of that. Our current goals are to keep her hydrated, increase her apetite and strength, and boost her immune system so her body can stay strong and fight. She will most likely start a horomone therapy through her Oncologist at UC Davis. For any other treatment, all expenses are out of pocket. We have been blessed by a few family and friends, but I decided to created a fundraising page anyways because I know this has taken a financial toll on my sister and mom's household. My mom had to suddenly quit her almost full-time job, yet still has all her bills to pay. My sister's time has been taken away from her growing business, and Jason has taken a lot of time off work. My mom is on a special diet, both for health reasons and doctors orders (low fiber, high protein), and all organic to eliminate pesticides and other things a sick body just doesn't need when it's fighting. One of the best ways to strengthen her immune system will be acupuncture, and though we found a great doctor, her weekly visits won't be cheap. Other therapies and remedies to aid symptoms and appetite will all cost extra. Also, some medical supplies such as ostomy bags, skin prep supplies, etc will all be out of pocket, though the nurse said they will provide them for us as long as possible. Any help you can give my family now would be such a blessing and I think it will relieve some stress from my mom, sis and bro-in-law. Thank you to those who have already helped us out.
