Valhalla Medics Hurricane Ian Relief

We are Valhalla Medics, an onsite medical group with Headquarters in Rockway Beach, NY. Many community members, including our founder and CEO, know what it's like to rebuild your life after a devasting natural disaster. On the eve of Hurricane Sandy's 10th Anniversary, we could not look away from helping those facing a familiar fate in Florida. Our team deployed down to Florida on Thursday, September 29, looking to provide grassroots aid to communities affected by Ian. On their journey, they discovered people living in their cars in Walmart parking lots with just the clothes on their bags and whatever they could grab that wasn't already flooded. They visited the BaySide community in Fort Myers idea helping people clear mold-ridden appliances and furniture out of their homes to prevent the spread. Most of the people they met with have never experienced anything like this. Simply speaking to someone who lived it and got beyond it seemed to have temporarily lifted some of their burdens.

Our initial effort was spontaneous and self-funded; however, we feel there is more we can do. We are calling upon the community to help us do just that.

WHAT WE PLAN TO DO WITH THE FUNDS: We plan to either donate the funds directly to the Fort Myers Beach Baptist Group that we built connections with during our time in Florida or deploy another team to the area to continue the grassroots relief we started.

FINE PRINT: We are not a registered 501(c)(3) but are working on filing paperwork to create one. For transparency, we will keep all our receipts and log exactly where the money goes for those who inquire.
