This is Valerie and her Two Beauties, Jaxon David Short "Jax" 4yrs & Emmy-Dru Ann Short  "Emmy", "Em", "Dru" 2yrs old.
She is very loved by her children & she is very much in love with them. Her health has limited her Motherhood skills & experience which is very hard for Valerie to except. She pushes herself too hard to be there for them. Which is good but ultimately bad for her. Below the pictures is her story & any updates I have made. Please please help me get MY/OUR Valerie back. Some new, scary updates have come up this week that has her scared and she's  still digesting some news but I will keep uplifting her & I need all of your help. She's losing her hope & faith which are sooo important. She can't move forward without the help of all of you. If you haven't heard the whole story Please continue scrolling, much more details after the pictures. She has a PET Scan scheduled but doesn't have the full amount to pay for it. This test is SO important! Please help her get it done Friday Aug 4th. THANK YOU FOR LOVING HER LIKE I DO!!!! We Can get her back!

Hello,
My name is Kelly. I was a counselor for college students when I met Valerie McVickar-Short 13 years ago. She was 21, full of life, dreams & beauty inside and out. She came to see me because she had unfortunately witnessed her father's death. I was immediately mezmorized by her. I had never met anyone so authentic. She wasn't afraid to face this issue head on, had no-filter in a way that I had never seen before. She said, "I need to talk to my Dad so I can move on, put a chair in front of me & I got it from there." She spoke to that chair as if he was sitting there & her ability to go so deep at her age blew me away. She wore her heart on her sleeve, lived the Sorority/Fraternity life, broke hearts, had heartbreaks but was more worried about everyone else's happiness & sacrificed her own, unfortunately. I had no doubt she was going to big places, to see big things & would become the Medical Scientist she set out to be. She was a patient I always wondered about throughout the years. She's not easy to forget.
When a mutual friend told me how many health problems she has suffered & where she was in life today, I was SHOCKED! If you've known her long enough, you know exactly what I mean. Then to hear she had cancer crushed me & I had to write to her. I believe she's isolated herself pretty badly & many might not know just how sick she actually is, on several levels. She needs help, financially & socially. She was and will be again, a very bright light that has been beaten & dimmed so badly that the light is barely still there. I will fight for her & I hope all of you will also. She's beyond worth it.
She has two beautiful children that desperately need to be in daycare. As babies she had a handle on her kids. Now that they are 2 toddlers, it's way more than she can handle. Her husband can no longer work because he has to stay home to take care of the children. Her kids need to be with other kids, not seeing their mother so sick. Her healthcare has come to a halt due to lack of finances, and again, her children. She needs a 1700 Pet scan, her familys' only vehicle is in need of a radiator & mechanic, they no income. You need money to survive.
And now......A cancerous tumor grew back, she has to have it taken out Again! Same exact Surgery she had 10wks ago, hence the serious need for a PET scan & honestly it's looking like her best chance is going to the Mayo Clinic, an hour a from her home but one of the best hospitals in the country. She already has a referral to go there however this adds more costs. Gas, possible hotel stays for her family so she isn't alone, her insurance wouldn't cover any of this so not sure what kind of co-pays she might be facing. Things have gone from bad to worse but we are hoping and fighting. We just need help.
I hope I have summed up the need for help.  If you are able, know Valerie & know that her spirit is priceless, please help her WIN this fight. As I stated, her light is very dim & so is her spirit. She really needs support, not just financial but social as well. The girl I treated 13yrs ago & the woman I see today are sadly, two very different people. Let's work together to bring back the Valerie we know & love. She's still in there, I can see it.

Thank You,
Kelly Malik & Family & Friends & Valerie
