Valeria Home and Temple

Dear Beloved Friends and Family, near and far,

Valeria ’s home was completely destroyed by fire on Tuesday, November 14. It took the fire crew 15 hours to completely put out the fire by sunrise the following  morning. The house is completely destroyed and will need to be completely rebuilt. Valeria lost everything except what she was wearing that day. While Valeria has good homeowner insurance, so much will need to be replaced, and not everything can be anticipated.

 If you have not had a chance to meet Valeria personally, I can tell you that she is amongst the most loving, selfless, positive person I know. She walks her talk with grace and brilliance of mind and spirit as all who know her, from the Organic Food programs she has spearheaded, to the Food system and community gardening activist days, her Nutrition Education background and her Spiritual Communities will attest. Because she has walked in so many circles, I trust that this fundraiser will go far and wide to help her rebuild her home and her community temple that she envisions. 

In addition, her roomate Susie Ezrol also lost everything she owned and did not have renter’s insurance. Resources will go to her to help her with replacing her clothes and personal items.

“The cause of the fire was the accidental mishandling of what appeared to be completely cool ashes from a pellet stove by a dear friend. A simple mistake.

I would appreciate your prayers to activate the most amazing rising and blessings out of the total destruction of home.

I am completely fine and safe along with my housemate, Susie Rebecca Ezrol. My 2 little dogs, Scholar and Ayla, are fine. My kitty, Millie, is still missing. I have left food and water, and fluffy kitty igloo in an area she might be drawn to under the protected awning of a shed.

Yes, many treasures were lost, of course. I am experiencing deep moments of profound grief as well as extraordinary elation at the amazing miraculous gift of a clean slate that a fire ushers in. I am in the middle of a divorce, so the clean slate is even more punctuated!!

I have 3 acres of woods and they were amazingly unaffected - which is frankly extraordinarily miraculous.

Many who live in the mid-atlantic know how dry the early autumn has been, yet we have been blessed with a soaking rain this past week. With the fallen leaves   blanketing the forest floor, the woods could have been an absolute tinderbox and a raging inferno. That didn’t happen.

I have great homeowners insurance- shout out to Liberty Mutual - they have swooped in as angels. The Red Cross was there the night of the fire to help, too.

The insurance company gave me a cash advance to get some clothes. I’m in the residence inn at Arundel mills with a kitchenette- the insurance company will set me with temporary housing soon - I have nowhere to put anything right now so things will not help me. I so appreciate the Love!! That lifts me immensely- this is process and will take a year apparently - so it’s going to be step by step”

I had been just returning from work on my way home when the fire broke out and all I had were the clothes on my back. So yes, I have to replace absolutely everything.

I am rebuilding, of course. I truly feel held by Love and I know all is well.
