Hello everyone! ¡Hola a todos!
I am a Junior at Western Michigan University double majoring in Speech Language Pathology and Spanish. This year, I am incredibly blessed with the chance to study abroad in Quito, Ecuador (May 1st-June 20th) to enhance my Spanish speaking education. It is an amazing opportunity for me in my pursuit of becoming a bilingual Speech Therapist. This will help me to serve a greater variety of families in need.
Communication disorders affect more than 42 million Americans. Of these, 28 million have a hearing loss and 14 million have a speech or language disorder. According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, more than one in 5 school-aged children (21%) speak a language other than English at home.
