Valerie Smelcer Medical

Valerie Smelcer is a 1973 graduate of St. Mary Academy. She returned as a teacher at the Academy in 1977, transitioned through the merger of Monroe Catholic Central and St Mary Academy. Valerie officially retired from St. Mary Catholic Central High School in 2016 but still returns several days a week to assist with the yearbook. She was and continues to be a very beloved teacher to the countless students who are blessed to experience her energetic teaching style. The students and staff are consistently amazed by her great breadth of knowledge.

Valerie was diagnosed with cancer the summer of 2016, adding to the already complicated health issues she has experienced over the years. As a result of governmental policies, Valerie is experiencing an outrageous, one year increase in her health insurance and its deductible. Her 2019 out-of-pocket expenses should be considerably more reasonable. Please consider making a donation to help Valerie navigate this difficult year.
