Valerie Leon Family Fund

On Friday July 24, 2020 at 6:30pm we lost a great member of our community and family; Sheriff  Technician Valerie Leon passed away at the age of 61 due to complications from Covid-19. Valerie was more then just a sheriff she was a single mother of three sons (Frank Perez , Brandon Perez, and Micheal Leon) and a grandmother of 13 grandchildren. Valerie was someone who would do anything not only for her family but her community. Let me tell you a few things about who Valerie was; She worked in the Alameda County Sheriffs Office since 1997, she also was a first responder to the Ghost ship Fires and a front line worker to the outbreak (she worked in the Coroner's Bureau  where she worked in administration), Also, she would yearly give countless hours to volunteering for Special Olympics Fundraising. This shows all the countless moments where she was there for us and others.  Out of the things she did i would say her greatest accomplishment was how selfless and caring she was, not only as a mother but grandmother to all. She had a way of every person she came in contact with, big or small she made an impact in. Her smile always lit up a room and our hearts . Valerie even though i didn't get to see her very often i knew that if i ever needed anything she would be there for me in a heartbeat. When our family got the news last Friday night we were all truly devastated and in disbelief in how fast she could be taken by Covid-19 when only a couple weeks prior i had seen her last before her road trip with some of her grand kids.

This is to show the struggles and risks that our essential workers are still facing everyday. Taking the proper precautions and following the safety guidelines does not guaranteed your safety, we all need to protect each other and do whats right, that is something that Valerie always did for all of us.
We are asking for donations during this difficult time , unfortunately many people in our family have recently tested positive as well placing them out of work . We would love to be able to give Valerie a proper goodbye that she deserves to commemorate her life . Your donations will help pay for the service and other expenses that comes with it. We would need the funds as soon as possible so we can give her a proper resting place. My name is Isabelle and Valerie was my friend, my family! I am setting up this gofundme, but her two sons (Frank and Brandon will be in charge of the final expense. Thank you for taking the time to get to know a little bit more about who Valerie Leon was. She will truly be missed by all and "Heros get remembered but legends never die " The sandlot her one of her favorite movies , she will continue to survive through her sons and 13 grandchildren.
