Please help us raise $10,000 to help Vajramati with his urgent medical bills, incurred through his recent cancer treatment.
Vajramati has been living and working in New York for 16 years now: working part time in a charity job and living in a very small rented apartment: dedicating most of his time and energy into helping to build a Triratna Sangha in New York, whilst receiving no payment from the Sangha. He has lived extremely modestly and ensured he had medical insurance. He believed he was doing all he needed to, to cover his possible future living and medical needs.
Earlier this year Vajramati learned he had prostate cancer. He had extensive tests and underwent radical surgery, which he is still recovering from. The really good news is he is recovering well and his doctors are optimistic that he will get through this.
The less good news is that despite extensive medical insurance he is personally responsible for over $10,000 of medical bills. This includes his co-pay (his mandatory contribution to his treatment) plus costs for various tests and treatments he was told he really needed, but which weren’t covered by his policy. Vajramati simply doesn’t have that level of savings to pay these costs. He has lived a very simple life, and doesn't have belongings he can sell.
Vajramati has been a dedicated devotee of Triratna in the UK and USA, and most recently the sole founder of New York Sangha - during which time he led over 2,500 classes. He has not asked for or received any financial support in return. But now he really needs our help. Please join us in supporting our dear friend and in making sure we take this worry from him at such a difficult time. Any contribution large or small will be most gratefully accepted.
