Dear devotees, friends and well-wishers,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
A dear godbrother of mine, Praghosa das [ ACBS ] a well-known pioneer in the distribution of Srila Prabhupada’s books, requires help for medical expenses.
Between 1999 and 2004, Praghosa Prabhu underwent two intense battles with lymphoma (cancer of the lymphatic system) which required radiation treatment and chemotherapy. The treatments were successful in destroying the cancerous tumours but as a consequence, all but 2 of his teeth have slowly dissolved. He requires extensive dental surgery and dentures. The process will require initial removal of the last remaining teeth, surgical work on his jaw bone, an extensive recovery time of 4-6 months and finally the installation of dentures. Because he will remain in India for the duration of the treatment his expenses include maintenance for him and his family.
Despite his age ( he is approaching 70 ) and having no teeth, Praghosa has set an amazing example by distributing Srila Prabhupada books practically every day for many years in New York City. He surprised us all by immediately continuing with book distribution after his battle with cancer was successful and he continues down to the present day.
As a society, I feel we should show our support to him so that he can continue with his service in prime form for many years to come. No doubt, several hundred thousand people have received Srila Prabhupada’s mercy through him. Donating for his needs exemplifies the mood of the following verse from the Padma Purana:
ārādhanānāṁ sarveṣāṁ viṣṇor ārādhanaṁ param
tasmāt parataraṁ devi tadīyānāṁ samarcanam
"Of all types of worship, worship of Lord Viṣṇu is best and better than the worship of Lord Viṣṇu is the worship of His devotee, the Vaiṣṇava."
I pray to all kind, compassionate and gentle Vaisnavas to help my friend in need.
