Medical Relief Fund For John

This is my dear friend John Rios who is having one of the toughest years of his life. This picture is from 3 months ago when he was hospitalized for a reoccurring illness that literally debilitates him for weeks at a time. After a very long 9 months of trying to figure out what was wrong, his doctors were finally able to give him a diagnosis. John has an autoimmune disease known as: Type 3 Angioedema with a Factor 12 Mutation. This is extremely rare and there are not many known cases in the United States.

After this last hospital stay, he needed multiple extremely expensive medications and follow up doctor visits/tests to help with his recovery. Today he had another occurrence and was hospitalized again. He had to be intubated and is currently in the Critical Intensive Care Unit of Einstein Hospital. He will need additional care once released which may not be for another week. John currently gets weekly deliveries of medication that he must self administer intravenously. All of this is obviously trying on anyone and can really be exhausting and scary. I'm sure you can only imagine how costly it can be... especially with all the restrictions and limitations on health insurance. He has yet to recover from the last incident (not to mention the ones prior to that) and here he is hospitalized again.

John is a very private, humble person who would never ask for assistance himself. He is a kind, loving, honest man who would and has helped so many in need. His positive attitude through all of this is genuinely inspiring. Unfortunately the financial element is very large and all of this has set him back tremendously (it seems to be continuing to do so). Often times people can use a helping hand in life and trust me he genuinely could right now. And like I said above he would never feel comfortable letting people know that... but sometimes a little assistance can really prevent someone's path from spirally out of control. Any contribution would be genuinely appreciated.
