Norma Stiegler Blanco River Flood

My mother-in-law, Norma Stiegler (Mom), recently lost almost everything in the Wimberley/Blanco River Flood.  Mom is 80 years old and has now been displaced from her home for weeks, has NO flood insurance and is living on a fixed income. 
The night that the wall of water came down the river, she was asleep in her bedroom downstairs.  Her daughter, Tracy, and Tracy's boyfriend, Carl, were awake upstairs.  (Mom's house was built as a B&B so there is no interior access from the downstairs to the upstairs.)  As Tracy and Carl heard and knew the water was coming, they went down the exterior staircase, found that water was already covering the back deck, which, I'm guessing, is 5-6 feet off the ground.  They were able to wake Mom (and Sadie-her little dog) and get them back across the deck and up the stairs.  Literally minutes afterwards, the water came rushing in, floating the refrigerator and Mom's bed as well as destroying all the other appliances, living room and bedroom furniture.  Many, many family antiques were also destoyed.  There was 4-5 feet of river water, sand/dirt and debris throughout the house.
We thank God every day that their lives were spared as so many others, including one man that lived on Mom's street, lost their lives! 
Doing demo on the interior and cleaning the debris was one thing but now reality of replacing insulation, sheetrock, appliances, food, dishes,  kitchen cabinets, interior and exterior doors, painting the walls, the storage fees of the few things that we hope will be salvageable...the costs are becoming overwhelming as we "put a pencil" to the estimatimation of all the materials and labor that will be involved just to get her house back to a livable condition.  We are truly realizing now everything that was lost as well as the things that can NEVER be replaced.
