School in Tanzania

Ciao a tutti,

sono Davide e sono il coordinatore e un volontario presso il “Rafiki Orphanage & Children's Home” ad Arusha Tanzania.

La storia dell'orfanotrofio Rafiki è iniziata cinque anni fa grazie a Joseph e sua moglie, Josephine. Infatti, mentre festeggiavano il compleanno di Joseph nel loro soggiorno, la coppia ha immaginato un sogno: aprire un asilo nido per i bambini della loro comunità.

Nei primi anni l'orfanotrofio ha accolto numerosi bambini orfani fornendo loro cibo, riparo e cure adeguate ed ospitando ad oggi 140 bambini di eta' compresa tra i pochi mesi e i 5 anni.

Tuttavia, col raggiungimento dei 6 anni d'eta' i bambini dell'orfanotrofio dovrebbero iniziare la scuola elementare ma la verita' e' che nessuno ha l'opportunita' di farlo poiché le spese sono molto onerose.

La prima volta che sono stato in Tanzania, capitava che i bambini mi parlassero dei loro sogni: "io faro' il pilota di aerei", "io faro' l'insengnante". La verita' e' che nessuna di queste cose si avverera' perche' i loro "sogni" si infrangeranno gia' dall'anno successivo quando si ritroveranno per strada o a dover lavorare nei campi.

Nella mia vita ho avuto tante opportunita', ho fallito tantissime volte, ed ho avuto seconde e terze chance. Non potevo accettare che qualcuno non avesse nemmeno una singola possibilita' e che i sogni di dei bambini venissero sgualciti cosi'.

Per questo abbiamo deciso circa un anno fa di costruire la nostra scuola elementare. Con tanto lavoro e tanti sforzi siamo riusciti a comprare la terra riuscendo a raccogliere in 7 mesi 45000 dollari americani.

Nonostante il traguardo raggiunto, abbiamo continuato a lavorare ed a meta' Ottobre abbiamo raggiunto la quota per iniziare a costruire le fondamenta della scuola.

Adesso abbiamo bisogno dell'ultimo sforzo: comprare i materiali per completare la nostra scuola.

Aiutami per questo Natale a fare il più bel regalo per questi bambini. Vogliamo dare loro il FUTURO che meritano perché il talento non è nulla senza le giuste opportunità.

Hello everyone,

I am Davide and I am a coordinator and a volunteer at the “Rafiki Orphanage & Children's Home” in Arusha Tanzania.

The story of Rafiki Orphanage was started four years ago by Joseph and his wife, Josephine. While celebrating his birthday in their living room, they envisioned a dream: to open a childcare center for the children of their community.

In the first 5 years of its history, the orphanage has accommodated a lot of children providing them with food, refuge and adequate care and hosting today 140 kids ranging from few months to 5 years old.

However, most 5-year-olds at Rafiki Orphanage won't have the opportunity to attend primary school, as the expenses are costly unless they find a sponsor willing to pay for them.

The first time I went in Tanzania happened that children talked to me, sharing their desires and dreams: "I will be a pilot", "I will be a teacher".

The truth is that none of these dreams will never happen and the kids' dreams will crash the next year when they will be on the street or working in the fields.

In my life I had multiple opportunities, I failed so many times, and I had second and third chances. I couldn't accept that someone was not having not even a single opportunity and that the kids' dream will be dashed.

For this reason, one year ago we have decided to start building our own elementary school. With a lot of work and efforts, we were able to collect the 45000 USD necessary for acquiring the land.

Despite we have reached this important goal, we kept grinding and working and indeed in the middle of October we collected enough resources for laying the foundations for the school

Now we need your help for acquiring the materials to complete our elementary school.
