Birds & other Critters Rescue

I started rescuing birds in 2003 when I saw one get hit by a car. I picked it up from the side of the street, took it home, and miraculously it survived. The bird was a pigeon and ended up become a dear house pet.

One thing led to another and now I have about 200 birds the majority of which can leave the aviary whenever they chose, but don't (they like the all you can eat and drink buffet and bathing pans). About 30% are special needs birds. These are birds with one functional wing, one leg, no bottom beak, or other challenges that would make their life in the wild come to a quick and painful end.

One of my permanent residences, Ray, named after Ray Charles, is total blind. Ray has a fully functional mate who, given the opportunity, will not leave his side. Pigeons mate for life. Rah can eateon his own but I feed least 10 other birds, who can’t feed themselves yet (sick or young), with a syringe and feeding tube daily.

I have a "hospital" shed that holds 18 cages. These are for severe cases that need medications, or need to recover from a broken leg, wing, or surgery.

Funding will help me keep going by providing seed, bird formula, medications, and supplies.
