Support Value Creating Education in Rural India
Dear Family and Friends,
Mahatma Gandhi believed that character building was the highest form of learning. It was on this ethos that my mom, an educationalist herself, formed a small primary school, in Matella Village, Kosi, Uttarakhand for children from low income families. It was her mission that these children were not left behind because of their economic or social background.
Today, in this holistic school children learn, meditation, respect for the environment through the schools gardening programs, public speaking and languages not native to the region, to help them become global and socially responsible citizens.
In 2001, my mom opened this school under her non profit, with her own money and continues to fund it. Now she cannot bear the costs herself but wants to keep the school going. The villagers depend on the school for their children. That's where I decided to step in.
Please help me raise money for the school for:
- A new roof.
The temporary tin roof leaks and is fading away.
- A library for kids.
Story telling is an important aspect of education, with a library kids will be able to borrow books and take it to their homes to share with their families.
- Salaries for teachers.
Due to lack of funding, the teachers have been working for as little as 10 dollars a month. We want to appreciate their dedication and raise their salaries.
All contributions will be used towards the school 100%. You will receive newsletter with pictures of the new roof and a thank you letter from students and teachers.
