John's dual transplant recovery
In March of 2016 my oldest brother John found out that both his kidneys had reached a functioning rate of 13%. With that John was forced to start dialysis right away by way of a chest catheter until the dialysis center was able to get a vein in his arm built up big enough to take the large needles needed for dialysis . John has been very lucky to get help and support of friends and family as well as the social worker at the dialysis center. Sometime in the estimated six months to a year time frame John will under go a kidney and pancreas transplant which will not only take John off of needing to under go dialysis three days a week for four hours per session but it will also provide an active pancreas and it will rid John of type 1 diabetes which John has had since he was fifteen years old. The scary part isn't the surgery as much as you may think it would be... but losing the funding that the kidney foundation provides for John's cobra insurance once he recieves the kidney transplant.
I am asking for help for my brother to make the next chapter of his life between the cost of getting the actual transplant and medications a little easier monetarily.
Anything helps. Thank you!
