Funeral For Baby Avery Joseph Mauer

On June 26th, 2012 we were blessed with the arrival of Avery Joseph Mauer. He was the latest joy and nontheless, the cutest addition to all of us, especially to his 4 older brothers.

On July 14, 2012 Avery's mommy, my baby sister Sandy, woke up to feed him just as she had been doing every 3 hours for the last 2 and a half weeks when she sadly realized that he wasn't breathing. He was blue in the face and cold when she picked him up. She instantly called 911 who instructed her on how to preform infant CPR. Within minutes the ambulance arrived and took Avery to Texas Childrens Hospital.

My sister Sandy wasn't allowed to go with him in the ambulance, she then called me to go with her. When we arrived at the hospital, we were taken to a room with Avery in it. As we were walking in and the doctor telling us what a great staff they had, we could see baby Avery laying on the bed, looking like he was peacefully sound asleep. Just by looking at him you wouldnt think anything was wrong, that the little angel was just sleeping there, until the doctor told us that they did everything but couldn't save our little guy. He told us that Avery didn't have a heart beat when the ambulance arrived and they couldn't get it going again.

We were able to hold him one last time.

Avery wasn't here with us long, but he sure was able to make sure we enjoyed him and that he could enjoy his family for two weeks before he had to go to baby heaven. I had only met Avery two times. I love him. He needs to have a proper burrial. Because this is so sudden and unexpected, there was no way to prepare for this in any shape or form, especially financially. I'm asking all of my friends and family to please donate anything to help us give Avery the funeral he deserves and anyone would want for their loved ones.
