My name is John Maines and I am currently a Life Scout in Troop 141 in Monrovia, California and am now a candidate for the Rank of Eagle Scout.
As an Eagle Scout candidate, I have the priviledge of performing an Eagle Scout Service Project. When considering this, I wanted to provide a service to an organization which has made a profound impact on me. For going on 5 years, I have been involved with Marching Band through the Monrovia Unified School District starting at Clifton Middle School and now at Monrovia High School. I play the Mellophone and the French Horn. The band program promotes intense team work, loyalty, leadership and respect for yourself and others. This non-profit organization is a true inspiration for me and I want to give back to it.
After meeting with my Band Director, I will create, design and construct two mobile instrument storage racks. One will be for the violins; the other for the violas. These storage racks will provide desperately needed organization for the instruments, remove clutter and create useable space in the band room.
In order to complete this, I need your help! I have a great mentor, that is a member of our church that is helping me with the design and construction of this project but the materials cost money! I am requesting donations to assist me in covering the costs of materials and supplies. One of these mobile instrument storage racks costs $850 retail! And everybody knows, our public schools these days do not have any funds to cover such an expense. I have already researched the costs and know we can build these at a much lower cost. If I exceed my goal, any additional money will be donated to the much needed Band department.
I am looking forward to my Eagle Project, to making a difference by giving back, and to the process of attaining my Eagle Scout Rank.
