I have something to share and I'll do my best to make this simple.
On December 12th of last year, we found out that our good friend Stephen Gersbacher, at the age of 54, has Burkitt lymphoma cancer. He had his first treatment on Christmas Day… Not exactly the way he and his family had expected to spend the Holidays.
As you can imagine, this news was devastating to Steve, his family and friends.
He and his support group have been doing everything we can to ensure we fight this disease both physically and mentally. We pray, with all of our hearts, for Stephens full recovery.
Together, we try to help Steve stay positive and keep his energy up. There are some days when those hills seem more like mountains but through it all, his work ethic never falters. We all know how much his work means to him, so you can imagine how hard this has been on him to be out of the field. Some days are good, many days are difficult and although it sounds cliché, it's really just take one day at a time. I often say, “Life is like a card game, every day you wake up with a new hand. You have to play the hand you’re dealt.” Well…Steve’s done a great job at putting on his poker face! He makes me proud to be his friend.
Many great friends have graciously offered to help in any way they can. This gofundme page seems like the best way to reach out to all of those who have asked and offered. Steve is currently undergoing his 5th chemo treatment. These treatments are extremely difficult, as you can imagine, and Steve has had to miss many days of work. This has caused Steve a great deal of financial stress. I’m sure you will all agree with me when I say, this is the last thing he should have to worry about at this time. We would greatly appreciate any donation you can offer at this time.
He is many things to all of us ... a brother, an uncle, a friend, a co-worker, a brother from another mother! Together, we can make a difference!
