Robin's Cancer Story
Just when you think you've got life all figured out, things can change in the blink of an eye. My sister, Robin (Cavazos) Park, is an amazing, kind hearted, generous, organized, strong, independent single mom. She has always been the giver, the one to help others. Now she needs our help. A few weeks ago, during a routine annual mammogram, my beautiful sister was diagnosed with BREAST CANCER. A few days after a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, she had to call an ambulance and went through an emergency surgery due to an abdominal hematoma to remove 1/3 of a gallon of blood from her stomach cavity. She underwent two blood transfusions. What should have been a 3 day routine surgery turned into a 10 day hospital stay over a three week period. It was very scary and she suffered tremendously. Despite all the careful financial planning and saving up to take time off work, the additional complications are requiring her to take off more time than she originally planned. She will be going on leave without pay very soon and the 20% coinsurance bills are about to start rolling in. Every little bit that you are able to donate will go toward paying her unexpected bills, rides to doctor appointments, medical bills and other essentials for her and her 15 year old daughter, Ava. As a single mom she does not have a second income to rely on. This has been a nightmare for her and I don't want her inability to pay her bills to be an added stressor to an already very painful, anxiety-ridden, trying time in her life. Robin wants to remind every mother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, and friend to PLEASE remember to get your mammograms as recommended by your doctor. Cancer does truly SUCK! We don't know what the future holds but your generosity during her current time of need is very much appreciated.
