Dear Friends,
I was recently picked up as a stray. I was in the middle of the street and I couldn't see where I was going because my eyes were completely crusted shut. Also, my fur was so densely tangled around my face; tangled and crusted around a hole under my eye.
It was dark, cold and late at night when I was found. A few neighbors came out to help me, but I was in such poor shape and reeked of sewage that nobody would commit to taking me home. So they called my new mama. Thankfully her sense of smell doesn't work! As soon as she saw me, she picked me up and gave me the love and hugs I was really needing. She even drove to Walmart at 11pm to buy me lots of new stuff!
After my new mama took me home, she gave me a 3 hour bath, picked out all the things my fur collected along the way and cut my fur as best she could. It hurt so bad when she was washing me, I cried and whimpered, because the neglect caused my fur to pull right out of my skin. Also, when she was washing my face, my teeth were falling out into the wash cloth. But! The warm water did feel so nice and I sat for a long time and just let the bath water fall on me.
The next morning, I was taken to the animal hospital where they gave us some really bad news. I am now blind and my left eye has started to shrink because of an abscess rupture and infection. I have extensive gum disease, with an abscess and infection filled mouth. The animal hospital thinks this is the root cause of the abscess in my face that burst into my eyes. AND! if that's not enough, I also have a mass growing inside of me that requires surgical removal. My new mama received a bill for the emergency care and an estimate for all the procedures, all totaling to $1,900.
My new mama doesn't know what to do! She doesn't want to surrender me and risk me getting euthanized. The shelter local to our home is a kill shelter and they said they couldn't confirm I wouldn't be flagged to be euthanized. I am currently on a 2 week antibiotic treatment, with a check up scheduled. Also, we are calling, emailing and Gofunding for any kind of help and financial assistance. My new mama's goal is to get me healthy and all healed up!
I need a lot of help and my new forever home needs financial support to give me a second chance at life.
