Hello, my name is Valeria Zaiter I have 20 years of age and I am a first year Graduate student in the School of Architecture and Community Design at the University of South Florida.
The Architecture degree can only be acquired through a Master's, making Graduate School mandatory. Due to the high expenses of tuition, materials and required research trips, I am raising money to pay for my education and finish my degree.
My story is a rather complicated one, so I will do my best to make it concise.
I moved to the United States when I was 9 years old and have lived here ever since. I graduated High School from an International Baccalaureate (IB) Program with the Honor of Cum Laude and thus gained 58 college credits before even attending a university. This opened many doors and the future looked promising. Unfortunately, however, my Immigration status of DACA stripped me from my scholarships and made my future that much uncertain.
With the inability to apply for Financial Aid and the scarce resources available for someone of my status, I had to withhold my college admission until I could find a way of paying for school. Thankfully, my grandfather and great aunt were able to get me a student loan from my country so that I could study for the time being. Since then it’s been 2 years and my loan has already reached its limit. With 3 more years to go and 69 more credits to take, I have run out of options and I am desperate. Without any money left, this may perhaps be my last semester. I don't even have enough to pay for the upcoming Fall 2018 semester which will cost me a total of $9,900.
I remain positive, for Architecture is what I love and I don't see myself doing anything else. I wish to learn as much as possible and bring that knowledge and apply it to this growing field. I am very thankful for all who have helped me up until now, as well as for those who will help me along the way towards my goal. To show my appreciation, although it may not be much, I will be sending a signed print of one of my original art works.

Hola, mi nombre es Valeria Zaiter, tengo 20 años y soy una estudiante de Maestría de primer año en la Escuela de Arquitectura y Diseño de Comunidad de la Universidad del Sur de la Florida (University of South Florida).
La carrera de Arquitectura se obtiene solamente con una Maestría, haciendo que la Escuela de Posgrado sea mandatorio. Debido a los altos precios de matrícula, materiales, y los viajes requeridos de investigación, estoy recaudando dinero para poder pagar mi educación universitaria y poder terminar mi carrera.
Mi historia es un poco complicada, pero haré lo que pueda para acortarla.
Me mudé a los Estados Unidos a los 9 años y he vivido aquí desde entonces. Me gradué de secundaria del programa Bachillerato Internacional (también conocido como IB) con el honor de Cum Laude. Esto logró que me otorgaran 58 créditos universitarios sin ni siquiera estar inscrita en una universidad. Esto me abrió muchas puertas, mi futuro se vió prometedor. Desafortunadamente, mi estatus inmigratorio de DACA hizo que me arrebataran todas mis becas e hizo que mi futuro se llenara de incertidumbres.
Con la inhabilidad de aplicar para ayudas financieras, y la escases de recursos para personas de mis estatus, me vi con la decisión de retirar mi admisión a la universidad, hasta cuando encontrara la manera de pagarla. Afortunadamente, mi Abuelo y Tía Abuela me ayudaron a conseguir un préstamo de mi país para que me ayudara a cubrir los gastos universitarios. Desde ese entonces han pasado 2 años y ya mi préstamo llegó a su fin. Con 3 años y 69 más créditos que tomar, me encuentro desesperada y fuera de opciones. Sin fondos, es muy probable que este sea mi último semestre. Ya ni siquiera tengo suficiente dinero para pagar el próximo semestre de otoño 2018, que me costara un total de $9,900 USD.
Intento pensar positivamente ya que la Arquitectura es lo que amo y no me veo haciendo ninguna otra cosa. Deseo aprender lo más posible y aplicar mi conocimiento a este campo proliferante. Estoy muy agradecida de todos aquellos que me han ayudado hasta ahora, al igual que aquellos me ayudarán en el camino hacia mi meta. Como muestra de mi agradecimiento, aunque no sea mucho, estaré mandado impresiones (serigrafias) firmadas de mi arte original.
