<div>This original description is from 2022: As some of you may know, recently Jen Wassmer was diagnosed with cervical cancer. As a result of her diagnosis, she will need to undergo chemotherapy and radiation. She will need to start treatment very soon and unfortunately, the treatment will harm her reproductive organs and her ability to carry her own children. Therefore, Jen and Nate will be harvesting and freezing eggs and embryos very soon. These fertility treatments are not covered by insurance and Jen and Nate will have $10,000 (at least) of out-of-pocket expenses that they need to pay in the next few weeks. They have received some generous loans from family members to help make this happen as quickly as it needs to, but they are hoping to pay these family members back.

<div>In addition to needing the money to pay for egg retrieval, Jen’s cancer treatment will be taking place in Salt Lake City, which is 5 hours away from her and Nate’s home and jobs in Jackson, WY. Jen’s insurance will cover a percentage of their lodging, travel and food expenses but they will have to pay up front and out of pocket until the reimbursement process is complete.

<div>Jen has been my best friend since we were four years old. I can’t think of anyone more loving and thoughtful. Jen is one of those “give you the shirt off her back” types of people. She and Nate will make great parents one day and I hope we can help give them that chance. If you know Jen and Nate, you know how deserving they are at a chance to start their own family one day.
