Calling all angels… By the grace of God, I am alive.
Hi, I am Kelly Harrison… I don’t take handouts; I work hard and make my own way. My life has always been “just get it done…no matter what it takes.” Being a lifelong optimist … I am a single Dad of two and asking for financial help from other optimists.
Early morning on August 27th my life changed. On the way to work at the community college in Denver I had a car accident.…The next thing I knew I was upside down suspended by my seat belt. The transcripts from the EMTs reported that…” due to broken bones and internal injuries, ” That I was not going to make it.” Before the EMTs arrived, my 1st angel appeared. A woman on the scene crawled into my truck with me and tried to support my body that was hanging from what was left of my mangled truck. 2nd angel some guy continually told me to “Hang in their bud…you’re going to make it.” What I remember is a level of pain that can not be put into words. I think about them often…I believe they were angels sent to help me. To paraphrase the ICU nurse…” Your work is not finished here on earth…you were kept alive for a reason you have much work left to do.”
The jaws of life were used to remove me from my crushed truck. The paramedic crew took me to Swedish Hospital in Denver. After being evaluated…it was not good. My injuries were to my heart, liver, lungs. I have a fractured pelvis, broken ribs and shattered my ankle. The number of internal bruises is everywhere and the lacerations too many to count. To sum it up…I am a mess. By the grace of God, I am alive. Living my life as “Peter Pan”, I keep telling myself I will heal, and I will “just get it done…no matter what it takes.”
Reality has hit hard.
Living with injuries and not physically able to work… yet. The day came when the hospital bill arrived…I do have insurance; however, they are not paying for outstanding medical bills. I ask you how does a normal working man pay for a bill that is close to half a million dollars…and feed my kids?
This is very hard to do.
I am respectfully asking for financial help… whatever you can give to my children and myself. I will be forever grateful to you. I thank you so very much in advance.
