On July 19th, my 20-month-old son was diagnosed with pneumococcal streptococcus (bacterial meningitis). He was treated with antibiotics in the hospital for almost three weeks. As a result of the illness, he lost his hearing and is now relearning how to walk. This has been an incredibly scary experience for both of us, as well as for his father and our family.
As a single mother of two, I had to quit my job during orientation due to the company's strict attendance policies, so I could be there for all of his medical appointments. Things have been really difficult without a car and a stable home for us.
I would deeply appreciate any help during this challenging time—every bit truly counts. I also want to spread awareness about meningitis—the vaccines are crucial, so please don’t skip them.
