What is the first image that pops into your head when you think about John?
For me, I picture him diligently preparing an extravagant meal in the kitchen while wearing his favorite apron. Entertaining his family or a large group of friends is something he took complete pleasure in doing.
It’s either that, or more simply – his 'world famous' biscotti.
No matter the image that comes to mind, John has always been a shining star who has brought endless smiles and laughter into many of our lives.
In early 2020, John discovered that he developed cancer. And not just any cancer, but a very aggressive form of melanoma. With recommendations from his doctors, He immediately started chemotherapy, followed by radiation, transfusions, and a new clinical immunotherapy treatment.
Every single day is a battle. Yes, physically, but more importantly – mentally. Keeping his spirits up and giving him events or goals to reach were crucial. After months of living in a hotel room in close proximity to the hospital, the melanoma continued wreaking havoc on John’s arm, lungs, chest, back, and brain. It has come to the point where his family – who has been rotating, taking turns staying with John in his hotel, could not provide him the proper care he needs.
It was a difficult decision, but it was the right decision. John is now in hospice care where he can remain comfortable and enjoy his time with family and friends.
As you can imagine, hospital bills and the cost of hospice care are extremely expensive.
John and his family are asking for your help. This is one of the many ways we can help show John and his family that they have an endless amount of love and support.
