In 2017 my dad, Michael was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer. For almost 3 years he has been receiving medical treatment in the Philippines. Our family has been so blessed to have been able to get by so far during this trying time.
June 2020 he was admitted to the hospital due to severe back pain and pneumonia. As he was being treated for the pneumonia, the medical team were also tending to his cancer. Due to the ongoing pandemic, his routine checkups, blood tests, radiation and chemo treatments have been on placed on hold since Manila's initial lock-down back in March 2020.
August 2020, he was unfortunately transferred to the ICU due to some complications and was placed on a ventilator via tracheostomy. Thankfully he has been continuously conscious, aware, and responsive during this time; however, the ventilator is continuously needed to assist his breathing. Under the Doctor's orders, they required that we hire 24/7 Private Duty Nurse by his side.
Mid-September, we received a notice from his insurance stating that they will no longer be covering his current hospitalization starting on September 18 to current, leaving my family to shoulder all the needed treatments, medications, tests, procedures, and room bills until his discharge.
With the current issue of his insurance and his need to still be in the hospital, my family and I are humbly asking for your help in supporting his treatment and recovery. Donated funds will assist in covering hospital bills, medications, treatments, private nurse, etc. all to give him the best efforts in recovery. My family and I are still very much hopeful that my dad will recover soon.
Words cannot describe how blessed and thankful we are to family and friends who have been by our side throughout all of this.
