Lincoln’s Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Leslie and I am trying to help the Martel family out. Cody, Cassie, and Liam welcomed a new addition in February and little Lincoln was born with some unexpected medical needs.
A little note from Lincoln’s mom to explain:
Lincoln Banks Martel was born 8:19am on February 3rd. He came into the world weighing 8 pounds 2 ounces. Cody was more than excited to have another boy that looks exactly like him.
In Lincoln’s first 24 hours he saw 3 doctors that all expressed concerns about the shape of his skull. They said it could just be from the way he was positioned in utero and not to worry.
A week later Lincoln had a CT that confirmed he has Saggital Craniosynostosis. Craniosynostosis is rare and occurs in 1 out of every 2,000 births. It is when the cranial sutures of the skull fuse too early, limiting room for brain growth and causing an abnormally shaped head.
Surgery is required to correct the shape of the head and to give the brain room to grow.
Lincoln was referred to a pediatric neurosurgeon at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Fargo. He has a consultation appointment with Dr. Yang on March 14th to discuss the procedure and set up a date.
I’ve been close friends with Cassie for about four years now. I’m sure anyone could understand how hard this would be. Any help to cover the hotel stays, travel costs, and the cost of the surgery would be greatly appreciated. I know they don’t want to ask for help but they need to be able to focus on Lincoln and his recovery. Thank you!
