Hey everyone! I have made this go fund me on behalf of my friend Jodi for her adorable daughter Olive. Here's her story:
Olive just turned 9, she has 2 brain tumors. One is affecting her pineal gland the other her pituitary gland which that tumor has caused Cushing’s syndrome which makes her thyroid nonfunctioning. Since her thyroid isn’t functioning she has issues such as we can't control her weight, she can’t regulate her body temperature. She has taken cold showers since about 3 years old, even lukewarm is super-hot to her.
She gets debilitating headaches which lasts for days some times. The tumor on her pineal affects her sleep, since she was about 4 yrs old she has stayed up all night and could go days on just a few hours of sleep. She has never been able to go to public school and has reached a point where she doesn't do most of the things she loves such as bike riding and swimming because her head starts hurting so bad. Her quality of life is awful.
Olive has seen several doctors in Oregon at several hospitals, and currently the only doctor that has said he would do the surgery to remove them is in Los Angeles at the Skull Base Institute. She has had multiple bone growth studies because the pituitary gland is where your human growth hormones are. Every bone growth scan came back 4 years ahead. At age 4 her bones were the size of an 8 year olds and at age 8 it came back her bones were the size of a 12 year old.She has sleep apnea and her heart is enlarged from the tremendous amount of extra weight for so many years. The goal is to get these tumors removed as soon as possible.
From all this family has had to go through, it has covered them with medical bills... Your contributions would help them get to Los Angeles to remove the tumors. Even better if we get them to the set goal, Jodi's dream of taking Olive to the world's best doctor in England would be obtainable. Let's help make Olive's quality of life better and for her to be able to do "normal" things a 9 year old does!
