Help Save Ohio Wildlife Babies !

Donation protected

"A simple act of kindness and compassion towards a single animal may not mean anything to all creatures, but will mean everything to one."

Paul Oxton- Founder of Wild Heart Wildlife Foundation

Due to the unavoidable incorporation of our human lives with our natural world, thousands of native Ohio wildlife babies are orphaned or injured each year. Fortunately, many are found by good-hearted people who are then faced with the task of finding someone licensed to properly care for and release them.

Our sister Maria has been a licensed volunteer hero of her own wildlife rescue for over seven years, giving her own time, money, yard and home space to this passion. This is not a paid position. She's one of very few licensed Wildlife Rehabilitators in Northeast Ohio, and has saved, raised and released hundreds of squirrels, cottontails, opossums and skunks in her years of loving on these orphans.

Maria administers intense care and attention to each animal,  sometimes feeding every two hours, even through the night.

Due to unexpected life events, she finds herself financially unable to continue the level of care that's required. This has reached a detrimental point; she's had to limit her intake of animals and can only accept approx. one of every ten rescue requests.

Without immediate financial assistance, our local wildlife will be robbed of their best chance of survival.  By donating, you will be a direct link in the heroics of this wildlife rescue!

Specifically, financial needs are for:

1. Cages, cage repairs and upgrades
2. Various formulas, and many different food ingredients for each species
3.  Bedding, blankets and carriers
4.  Medicines, medical supplies and vet bills if needed

 In Maria's own words:

"Like most people, I had no idea there was such a thing as a wildlife rehabilitator and became aware years ago when trying to find help for a baby squirrel- only to realize there were very few places and people willing to do this. I  became a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator when I discovered this huge need since I have always had a love and fascination for all animals and an extra appreciation for those in our own backyards.

I am always amazed at the similar discovery of the many people who bring me orphaned babies. They are so relieved to find someone who can put in the time and money to help get these babies raised and released back into the wild where they belong. It is refreshing to know that although we don't pay a lot of attention to these wondrous creatures with whom we live side by side, most people care enough about them to find help when one is in need. "

If we can reach our goal,  our family would be grateful beyond words, but so would the little creatures who grace our backyard worlds.
