UtahSAG

UtahSAG is an informal association of Amateur Radio volunteers who provide support services for charity events such as The Tour de Cure (American Diabetes Association), Cycle for Life (The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation), The Summit Challenge (The National Ability Center), Ride 4 Education/Ride 4 Respect (Utah School Employees Association), Ride with the Angels (Angel Hands), Scouting for Food (Utah Food Bank) as well as public century bicycle rides that make donations to charity organizations such as all of the rides (Gran Fondo Salt Lake, Giro Donna, Bear Lake Monster etc.) put on by Extra Mile Racing (Team Kid Courage), Front Runner Century (Chron's and Colitis Foundation as well as Air Force and Navy charities), The Wildflower Pedalfest (Utah Bicycle Collective), The Huntsman 140 (Huntsman Cancer Institute), Little Red Riding Hood (Huntsman Cancer Institute) and other public events such as marathons, parades and community holiday ceremonies.

In addition, UtahSAG makes it's volunteers and equipment available to local public service and community organizations such as police and fire departments, when requested, in the event of public emergencies as well as the National Weather Service of Utah to provide weather information from around the state during emergency weather conditions.

UtahSAG will use the funds raised to provide for regular maintenance of existing equipment, acquisition of new equipment and to offset the costs incurred by volunteers, such as gas, food and lodging, to allow them to be able to provide more volunteer services for events outside their local neighborhood.

In the coming year UtahSAG would like to be able to acquire a portable repeater and antenna system, one or two quality name brand dual band/dual receive VHF/UHF trancievers, noise canceling headsets, a portable/collapsible antenna tower and a new computer for the mobile command center. Additionally, we are working with the Weather Service to acquire a replacement multi-band HF antenna to replace their broken one, as well as a couple of new dual band/dual receive VHF/UHF transcievers, an APRS texting station and a digital mode (PSK31, MFSK and JT6M) station with antenna.

In addition to the equipment needs we would like to be able to reimburse our volunteers for expenses incurred while providing their volunteer services to these events and organizations as not all of these organizations have the ability to provide reimbursement to their volunteers.

We could use the funds immediately as our new year of event support starts not long after the first of the year.

By donating to UtahSAG you will be allowing more volunteers to be able to support all of the existing events that we work with as well as provide volunteer support for the new events that we are approached to work with each year. By supporting these events UtahSAG provides services to around 10,000 event participants each year providing SAG service, transportation and general care services so that they can enjoy the event they are participating in.
