Utah Reach at Provo, Utah

My name is Daniel Tang, and I’m on a mission to raise funds for a significant journey with Utah Reach.

Provo, a location under Texas BSM’s Reach the Campus, Reach the World initiative, is a critical area in desperate need of gospel ministry. This marks the third consecutive year that a team from Texas BSM will be dispatched to Utah in May.

The people of Provo are in dire need of the gospel! The evangelical Christian population in Utah County is less than 2%. This trip will provide us with invaluable experience in identifying gospel inaccuracies and articulating the true gospel.

Our journey is scheduled for May 18-26, 2024. Our ministry will focus on evangelism among college students, particularly Mormons, and prayer walking.

Our Summer Mission Trip to Utah aims to share the Gospel with members of the LDS Church. We will collaborate with several Texas BSM college ministries to serve and engage these students with the Gospel.

Scripture cautions us to be on guard against false teachers (2 Peter 2:1) and to “test the spirits” (1 John 4:1). What we see and hear on the surface may not reflect the true nature of what lies beneath.

2 Peter 2:1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

This is what we find when dealing with LDS (Latter-Day Saints, previously Mormon) beliefs. Many Christians hear their seemingly orthodox claims and move on, accepting them as brothers or sisters of a different Christian denomination. However, when we examine their beliefs, it becomes clear they are not members of a different denomination but of a different religion entirely.

This semester, I feel a distinct call from God to reach out to more people. I aim to enhance my service to TJC BSM and my church, TCBC (Tyler Chinese Baptist Church). One way I plan to do this is by immersing myself more in ministry work and reaching out to more people to spread Christ’s message. My involvement in Beach Reach has provided me with a unique experience to share the Gospel and serve others for an entire week, which further motivated me to engage in more ministry work. The ministry trip to Utah is coming up soon, and this experience will be significant in laying a solid foundation for future service in my church and student ministry group. It will also be a priceless experience as I plan to participate in more mission trips in the future.
