Brennan's New Chair

Brennan is our 13 year old son.  He has cerebral palsy.  He is very bright and hysterically funny, but lacks even the most basic of motor skills.  He loves the outdoors, as does the whole family.  When he was smaller I would carry him on hikes in a backpack carrier.  He has long out grown any type of a carrier and family outdoor activities such as playing in the backyard, hiking, camping and fishing haven't been enjoyed as a family for several years.  Two years ago he received his first motorized wheelchair with the assistance of insurance.  It has made a terriffic change in his life.  He wants very much to get back to the outdoors.  Unfortunately, the chair he has does not do well when off of smooth hard surfaces.  After much research we have found the Action Trackchair.  It is similar to a typical wheel chair, but the wheels are replaced by tank type tracks.  This allows the chair to go virtually anywhere off-road.  This will enable Brennan to get back to the outdoors and do more "typical" kid type activities with his family and friends.  It will also allow him to participate at school with his classmates during outdoor activities. This past year he could only sit and watch.
