Chewy is a 2 year old Goldendoodle that sill has a lot of love to give. He is suffering from a rare lung disease that forms bullea (blisters) on his lung lobes that then leak and create dangerous spontaneous pneumothorax (collapsed lung). He is currently fighting for his life in an Intensive Care Veterinary Hospital in Greenville,SC. We have failed so far with medical management alone. Currently he has two chest tubes that require continuous negative suction to keep his lung inflated. We have had little to no success taking the suction away. His only options left are an exploratory surgery to find and correct the problem or euthanasia. Of course the latter of the two is the goal to avoid if possible. We have simply done all and above financially we are capable of doing. We prayed over this many times and know this is his last hope. The surgery is long and the recovery is slow but how do we give up on such a young and beloved member of the family. Chewy has a special bond with our oldest son that is 12. Chewy has been a blessing for him. He was diagnosed with a congenital brain tumor at age 10 had a 12.5 hour surgery to remove 80% of the tumor. Dale had a long recovery but is highly functional. He was left with a traumatic brain injury and suffers with anxiety/mood disorder now. Chewy has been such a blessing for calming source for Dale. Chewy is such a special member of our family.
