USMC FIGHTING FOR LIFE

My husband Richard, a USMC Devil Dawg, fell sick with COVID on Thanksgiving day. We thought he was finally turning the corner but the COVID attacked his lungs. Richard was born with asthma so his lungs stay in a compromised state. 

During the month between Thanksgiving and Christmas we visited the emergency room 5 times. Each time we were sent home with antibiotics and told to manage the pain with Tylenol. On Christmas Eve Richard spiked a 102 fever. We rushed him back to the ER. It was then that they discovered he had 2 Empyemas...2 masses on the outside of his left lung that ruptured. 

He was transported to a level ll trauma center for immediate medical intervention. He had 3 chest tubes inserted to begin draining the infection.  A “rind”formed around the abscesses and we are fighting desperately to avoid a thoracotomy. 

Richards lungs are damaged from the COVID, he’s fighting massive infection and every breath is labored and excruciatingly painful. We are in need of a miracle! 

I’m believing by faith that my strong Devil Dog   has some fight left in him! The medical bills are  going to be astronomical...and we will need some help with that fight as well.  Richard is a proud man and Devil Dawg and would never ask for help...but I will.  We desperately depend on his income to live.  His road to recovery will be long and he will not be able to work during this time.
