Each year 1 in 8 soldiers suffer from PTSD, and unfortunately, it is estimated that 18 to 22 veterans die from suicide each day. As many as 500,000 U.S troops who served in wars over the past 13 years have been diagnosed with PTSD.
As holiday season approaches us, in the midst of a pandemic, many veterans return to this country and have no place to live, a source of food, or adequate mental health services. Without adequate mental health services, after various traumatic events, more and more veterans commit suicide. Now is the time to raise awareness for not only mental health but the mental health of veterans. So, I am raising money in honor of those who put their lives on hold and on the line.
The donations will go towards a “backpack essential” for homeless veterans in the Memphis area and to the Memphis VA. These donations will be given during late November. Please help me raise money and awareness for the brave soldiers who put their lives on the lives for us each day.
