The mega-blaze which is ravaging Australia has taken the lives of approximately 480 million animals. Wildlife is extremely vulnerable and financial assistance is critical to help with food, shelter and medical supplies.
Heroic inspectors and staff of the RSPCA Brushfire Appeal are assisting with Veterinarians at evacuation centers helping members of the public keep livestock and wildlife safe from the fires and treating those in need of medical attention.
The rescue and treatment of native wildlife and livestock who have been most affected by the fires is currently at an all-time high. Once the active fire zones clear, that’s when the most challenging work begins. The RSPCA works alongside Veterinarians, who will begin the difficult job of entering affected areas and assessing any injured animals.
We are challenging our friends, neighbors and colleagues to donate what you can to this very important cause. Consider for a moment your daily coffee budget.... abstaining from just one latte, can do so much for injured wildlife.
The cost for care of the Australian wildlife is expected to be in the billions. Every dollar that we are able to provide will go directly to helping the lives of so many animals in need.
We have also discovered that assistance is also needed from those of you that are crafty! If you or someone you know can knit or sew- your skills are very much in need! We will be posting information and patterns on our websites for you.
