This summer, California Rowing Club (CRC) set out to put together a Men’s Quad for the Under 23 World Championships. Ten rowers from all over the United States raced each other for 4 spots. Those selected athletes will now represent the U.S. and race on the international stage at the <a href="http://www.worldrowing.com/events/2017-world-rowing-under-23-championships/event-information" target="_blank">U23 World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria</a> at the end of July 2017. <iframe media_type="0" media_id="A20yJF8gHrw" class="youtube-replace" title="YouTube video player" style="margin-bottom:20px;width:560px;height:315px;" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/A20yJF8gHrw/?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="1"></iframe> Meet the Crew: <img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/21771840_1498453792.6511_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />Stroke Seat:  Ari Cohen, 20 / Wellesley, MA / representing <a href="http://www.gohuskies.com/index.aspx?path=mrow" target="_blank">University of Washington </a> <img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/21771840_1498832913.9707_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />3 Seat: Jacob Plihal, 21 / Vashon Island WA/ representing <a href="http://www.gonu.com/index.aspx?path=mrow" target="_blank">Northeastern University</a> <img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/21771840_1498833092.5695_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" />2 Seat  Sebastian Amberger, 21 / Townson, MD / representing <a href="http://www.uwbadgers.com/index.aspx?path=mrow" target="_blank">University of Wisconsin</a>  <a href="http://www.uwbadgers.com/index.aspx?path=mrow" target="_blank"> <img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/21771840_1498456118.1398_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /></a>Bow Seat: Doran Finley, 18 / Atherthon, CA / Cornell University, representing <a href="http://www.stanfordrc.com" target="_blank">Redwood Scullers</a>  This endeavour started with training at <a href="http://www.californiarowingclub.com" target="_blank">CRC</a> on the Oakland Estuary. During this time the athletes were hosted at the Cal Berkeley campus or with CRC guest families. After the vetting process of finding the best line up, CRC started to form four individual men to a team. ~ To qualify for the event, a participation at the <a href="http://www.usrowing.org/event/2017-junior-23-world-championship-trials/" target="_blank">US Rowing U23 World Championship Trials</a> on Lake Mercer in Princeton, NJ,  is required. The World Championships are hosted in <a href="http://www.koelner-regatta-verband.de/anfahrt.html" target="_blank">Plovdiv, Bulgaria</a>, ten time zones away from California, which requires a physical acclimation. Furthermore, the Crew needs to develop skills in rowing on a racing course. The crew will be sent to <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cologne" target="_blank">Cologne, Germany</a>  for a training camp on an official buoyed FISA Race Course. Cologne held the world championships in 1998. It has a perfect eight-lane <a href="http://www.koelner-regatta-verband.de/anfahrt.html" target="_blank">regatta course</a> in a beautiful park near the city center.  These talented athletes are spending their entire summer to pursue excellence in challanging the rest of the world in rowing at the under 23 years level. It requires much, including logistics, patience and support to provide housing, provisions, boat material and travel expenses.  Please help this Crew on their way to Bulgaria. Any donation is much appreciated.
