US Slalom Racers

Most of the athletes racing for the U.S. at the World Championships and World Cups in whitewater slalom racing get no funding. They pay their own expenses unlike the athletes from other countries that they race against. They are just expected to foot the entire bill themselves and show up and race at World Cup and World Championship competitions.
These athletes have a lot of expenses besides travel, hotel and food expenses. They have to pay for boats, which cost upwards of $2,000, and other equipment, such as paddles, life vests, helmets, clothing, etc. And they sometimes have to pay just to train. You have to pay to use artificial courses now, and most of the races are on artificial courses. It is hard to hold a job when you have to take off for months at a time to train and race in Europe.
So, please help these athletes with their expenses. I want to ensure that they get some kind of support from us. It won't be enough to fully compensate them for their expenses, but it will be a show of support that people back home care.
Now, we have some younger athletes entering the team, who have great potential. Our athletes often tend to come on stronger towards the end of the season, so we have hopes that they will turn in good performances at the World Championships at the end of September in Seu d'Urgell, Spain.
The money raised from this campaign does not go to any organization. It goes to the athletes themselves. It does not go to administrative expenses (except the GoFundMe fee), or to other sports disciplines, only slalom. All proceeds will be equally divided among the athletes who race for the U.S. in slalom competition at the World Championships in Seu d'Urgell, Spain, . That way, you will be sure that your donations will go to the slalom athletes competing at the World Championships at the end of September, 2019.
