Help us rebuild the Kimberley Bike Park

We want to make the Kimberley Bike Park great. Help us fundraise money towards a new set of safe, progressive dirt jumps for all abilities and a paved pump track to accommodate bikes, scooters and skateboards. We plan to redesign the bike park in three stages to create a safe bike park that integrates well into the existing area by Mark Creek and the Lion’s Trail.

Three phases of this project aim to create a safe, sustainable, inclusive and inviting space. Phase One will focus on rebuilding the dirt jumps so that all different skill levels can enjoy. Phase Two will focus on site preparation and the building of a paved pumptrack that will integrate into the existing area. Phase Three will focus on developing the greenspace area around the bike park to blend it into the surrounding natural landscape.

We are actively applying for grants for this project. Many grants require a certain percentage of matching funds to proceed, and the more we raise, the better position we are in to apply for specific funding sources.

The Kimberley Bike Park was built approximately 15 years ago as a collaboration between the City of Kimberley and a group of users who designed the park based on the needs of a small group of users at the time. According to the City of Kimberley, there were no formal partnership agreements on record for how to manage and maintain the Bike Park. Maintenance fell to stewardship passed along from the original group involved to the following individuals interested. Over the years, with no “official” committee and fluctuations in interest and capacity to maintain the park, the area now requires significant upgrading to meet the demand and changing needs of the community. We have formed a new committee within the Kimberley Trails Society and developed a partnership with the City of Kimberley to bring awareness of the need to revitalize the park.
