As many of you will know I been lucky enough to receive an offer of a Golf Scholarship with Bluefield State University in West Virginia. They have a British coach who competed on the Korn Ferry Tour and is building a new programme, it seems they have a bright future as they have just won the CIAA Golf Championship.
I discovered the game of golf late, having only first picked up a club two and half years ago. As we all know golf is hard! But after a punishing 6 months I started to see some real progress and got down to low single figures. I was told I had potential to try and compete at a higher level but needed to play serious catch up against other promising juniors who had played for many more years. I decided to take a year out after my A Levels and push as hard as I could to get to scratch and catch the attention of US College Scouts.
This gamble has paid off and I am delighted to have been offered a scholarship but due to my limited exposure in the game this only covers around 60% of my fees. I have been saving hard all year to get the remaining funds together and some members have asked about making a contribution to help and this means the world to me. The club have also stepped in and set up this opportunity to allow anyone who would like to help out towards my travel and equipment expenses.
Please don’t feel any pressure to donate, but we wanted to put something formal together for those that might wish to do so. The support and goodwill I have had from the members at this club, has been unbelievable, I don’t know how to put into words!
My dream is to play on tour at elite level, who knows if I am good enough, but looking at my progress with dedication and a handful of lessons I have to go for it. Hopefully, daily coaching and playing competitive golf each week can help me drive on to achieve something in the game!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and consider supporting my journey. I can promise you no one will outwork me out there, with drive, dedication and my passion for the game let’s see where it goes!!!
