US Coast Guard Monument Fund

The US Coast Guard Air Station was established and has been operating in Traverse City, Michigan since 1946.  In 2010 the US Congress designated Traverse City as a Coast Guard City for it efforts to support the USCG Air Station and its personnel. Shortly thereafter, the Traverse City City Commission established  and appointed a Coast Guard City Committee to further support  and honor the Air Station and professional life saving work of its personnnel.  To that end, the Committee worked with local high school artists and after a contest, chose a winning conceptual drawing of a statue that now has City approval to be constructed and placed in a City Park to honor the Coast Guard.  (see attached picture of rendition)  The Committee is now raising money to fund to approximately $25-30,000 project.
Donations of any amount are being sought and will be greatly appreciated from any and all sources.  Funds will be deposited in the bank account of the City of Traverse City, Michigan.
