<div>Hiya, my name is Angel.
</div>
<div>Im a woman of trans experience.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This fundraiser is to help me gather the funds for voice feminisation surgery.
</div>
<div>I have done months of voice therapy which has been helpful in many ways, but there are complex reasons why it hasn’t been sufficient.
</div>
<div>Over the time since I began my transition I have been very lucky that I can mostly move around in the world without drawing attention to my trans identity.
</div>
<div>This however falls apart when I have to use my voice with strangers, in public, on the telephone etc.
</div>
<div>I have felt particularly unsafe at times due to my voice attracting the wrong attention.
</div>
<div>Micro aggressions I’m used to, but Ive had a spate of incidents recently with members of public when I’ve been alone and vulnerable that make it evident to me that it’s just a matter of time before I’m hate crimed.
</div>
<div>sure, I have dysphoria around my voice, it would be nice for me on an emotional level to have a voice that aligns with the rest of me, but further to that I’m literally too scared to even answer my phone in public if I’m alone, reply to people who want my attention or talk to buy things in shops, restaurants etc if there are people within earshot.
</div>
<div>it’s genuinely scary dealing with the potential for trans panic and outright prejudice.
</div>
<div>The surgery “glottoplasty” raises the pitch of voice.
</div>
<div>in combination with techniques around tone and resonance, my voice should become indistinguishable from that of a cis woman.
</div>
<div>to be honest at this point I’m desperate. The impact it’s having on me being selectively mute in public is more than just an inconvenience, it’s also simply not possible or a reasonable way to live.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>the £7.5k I’m hoping to raise should cover the consultation, surgery and follow up appointments. If I hit the target and it comes to less, I will put the remainder toward another trans person seeking financial assistance xx
