Urgent Surgery for my Grandmother in Venezuela

I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help. My grandmother, who lives in Venezuela, has been battling dementia/Alzheimer’s for some time now. Unfortunately, her condition has been worsening—she no longer remembers many things, including recent events.

Two weeks ago, she had a terrible accident while bathing and fractured her hip. She is in a lot of pain, but due to her condition, she doesn’t even remember that she fell. She constantly tries to get out of bed, making things even more difficult. Every day, she tells us she’s fine, but the pain makes it clear that she needs urgent surgery.

The medical costs in Venezuela are overwhelming, and my family and I simply don’t have the resources to cover them. On top of the surgery expenses, we will also need to hire a nurse to help care for her after the operation. My grandmother refuses to let anyone but my mother assist her with personal tasks like bathing or changing, making it even more difficult for my family to manage her care alone.

I currently live in the U.S. and financially support my parents and grandmother in Venezuela. Due to the difficult economic situation there, my parents are struggling to make ends meet, and this unexpected emergency is more than we can handle alone.

That’s why I am asking for your support. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward covering my grandmother’s surgery, post-operative care, and a nurse to ensure she receives the attention she needs.

**Ayuda a Mi Abuela a Conseguir la Cirugía Que Necesita Urgentemente

Hola a todos,

Hoy les escribo con el corazón en la mano para pedir su ayuda. Mi abuela, quien vive en Venezuela, ha estado luchando contra la demencia/Alzheimer durante algún tiempo. Lamentablemente, su condición ha empeorado y ya no recuerda muchas cosas, incluyendo eventos recientes.

Hace dos semanas, sufrió un terrible accidente mientras se bañaba y se fracturó la cadera. Está sufriendo mucho dolor, pero debido a su enfermedad, ni siquiera recuerda que se cayó. Constantemente intenta levantarse de la cama, lo que hace la situación aún más difícil. Todos los días nos dice que está bien, pero el dolor es evidente, y es urgente que sea operada.

Los costos médicos en Venezuela son extremadamente altos, y mi familia y yo no tenemos los recursos para cubrirlos. Además de la cirugía, también necesitaremos contratar a una enfermera para que la cuide después de la operación. Mi abuela solo permite que mi madre la ayude con tareas personales como bañarse o cambiarse, lo que hace que sea aún más complicado para mi familia manejar la situación solos.

Actualmente, vivo en Estados Unidos y soy el principal sostén económico de mis padres y mi abuela en Venezuela. Debido a la difícil situación del país, mis padres no tienen estabilidad financiera, y esta emergencia médica ha sobrepasado nuestras posibilidades.

Por eso, les pido su apoyo. Cualquier donación, por pequeña que sea, nos ayudará a cubrir los gastos de la cirugía, el cuidado postoperatorio y la contratación de una enfermera para que reciba la atención que necesita.
