Jay Jay is a 4-year-old dog rescued from the countryside of Basilicata, Italy. When we found him, he was less than a month old, kept outdoors in the freezing winter, chained with a heavy iron chain bigger than his tiny body, and fed only soaked bread.

Because of this cruel start, Jay Jay has no immune defenses and has suffered from severe health problems ever since:

Atopic dermatitis (still not fully understood)

Patellar luxation (knee dislocation)

A permanently protruding tongue, possibly from a stroke

Recurrent infections and an abscess just recently

For over a year, the only thing that keeps his unbearable itching under control is daily cortisone. Sadly, this medication also makes him extremely hungry, and sometimes he eats dangerous objects.

Yesterday, while in my father’s garden, Jay Jay swallowed a 4 cm piece of wire. Thankfully, it hasn’t caused internal tears yet, but it must be removed immediately.

The surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning, and the cost is around €1,600. I cannot cover this amount on my own.

Jay Jay has already been through so much in his short life, and now I’m asking for your help to give him this urgent surgery and a chance to keep fighting his ongoing health battles.

Jay Jay ha solo 4 anni, ma ha già conosciuto troppa sofferenza. È stato salvato nelle campagne della Basilicata quando non aveva nemmeno un mese: tenuto all’aperto in pieno inverno, con una catena di ferro più grande e pesante di lui, e nutrito solo con pane bagnato.

Quella crudeltà gli ha lasciato ferite profonde:

Difese immunitarie quasi inesistenti

Dermatite atopica cronica

Displasia rotulea

Lingua sempre fuori (forse per un ictus)

Infezioni ricorrenti e un ascesso recente

Da oltre un anno prende cortisone ogni giorno per tenere a bada il prurito, ma questo lo rende famelico e lo porta a mangiare anche oggetti pericolosi.

Ieri, nel giardino di mio padre, ha ingerito un pezzo di filo di ferro di 4 cm. Per fortuna non ha lacerato nulla, ma va rimosso subito.

La clinica può operarlo domani mattina, ma l’intervento costa circa €1.600 e non ho questa cifra.

Jay Jay ha già lottato tanto. Ora ha bisogno di noi per sopravvivere a questa nuova emergenza e continuare a ricevere le cure che la sua condizione richiede.
