<div>Juan Carlos Portorreal Batista, 39 years old, is a family man and father of two beautiful girls. He woke up one day with strong pain in his upper abdominal section which he had never had before. As he was getting dress, he felt dizzy and fainted. His entire family was calling and trying to reach him for days, however, due to the distance where he resides by himself, they had no choice but to contact the local Police Department where they conducted a wellness check. By the time the police officers arrived, they had no option but to break in the door. Once they looked in his bedroom, they found him lying on the floor. He had been there for days unable to get up and call for help. He was urgently transported to the local hospital where he currently remains as of now. Doctors state he is in urgent need of a liver transplant as soon as possible. They have been processing treatment to keep him alive, but his body is not responding to the treatment.

<div>Due to his liver illness, his medical needs will be long term. Unfortunately, we are running out of options, he has no insurance, and he is unemployed due to these circumstances. In order for him to continue with his treatment, the transplant, and his recovery, we are in need of financial support as well as your prayers.

<div>Neither him nor us were prepared in any way for a situation like this and we will never leave Carlos on his own while facing the toughest challenge life has given him. Therefore, here we are reaching out not only to those who know what is like to be in a tough situation, but to all his friends who know him, to every single person who has met him and gotten the chance to see what a great guy he is. Not only is he a responsible, caring dad, a great son, and a very playful uncle, but he also goes out of his way to help anyone he can.

Un día se despertó con un fuerte dolor en la parte superior del abdomen que nunca antes había tenido. Mientras se vestía, se sintió mareado y se desmayó. Toda su familia lo llamó e intentó comunicarse con él durante días, sin embargo, debido a la distancia donde reside solo, no tuvieron más opción que comunicarse con el Departamento de Policía local, donde realizaron un control de bienestar. Cuando llegaron los agentes de policía, no tuvieron más opción que romper la puerta. Una vez que revisaron su dormitorio, lo encontraron tirado en el suelo. Había estado allí durante días sin poder levantarse y pedir ayuda. Fue trasladado de urgencia al hospital local donde permanece hasta el momento. Los médicos afirman que necesita urgentemente un trasplante de hígado lo antes posible. Han estado procesando el tratamiento para mantenerlo con vida, pero su cuerpo no está respondiendo al tratamiento. Debido a su enfermedad hepática, sus necesidades médicas serán a largo plazo. Desafortunadamente, nos estamos quedando sin opciones, no tiene seguro y está desempleado debido a estas circunstancias. Para que pueda continuar con su tratamiento, el trasplante y su recuperación, necesitamos apoyo financiero y también sus oraciones.

<div>Ni él ni nosotros estábamos preparados de ninguna manera para una situación como esta y nunca dejaremos a Carlos solo mientras enfrenta el desafío más difícil que la vida le ha dado. Por lo tanto, aquí estamos extendiendo la mano no solo a aquellos que saben lo que es estar en una situación difícil, sino a todos sus amigos que lo conocen, a cada persona que lo ha conocido y ha tenido la oportunidad de ver qué gran persona es. No solo es un padre responsable y cariñoso, un gran hijo y un tío muy juguetón, sino que también se esfuerza por ayudar a todo el que puede.
