Anyone who knows Erin Harting knows that she is someone who brings warmth, humor, and steadiness into the lives of the people around her. She is now facing an extraordinarily rare and serious diagnosis that calls for strength, care, and community. 
 
Erin has been diagnosed with a rare blood cancer called a myeloid neoplasm with FGFR1 rearrangement. This exceptionally uncommon cancer is caused by a genetic abnormality in the bone marrow that leads to uncontrolled production of abnormal blood cells. Because of its rarity, many oncologists will never encounter a case like this in their careers. This type of cancer does not respond well to standard treatments. 
 
After extensive testing and consultation with specialists, Erin’s medical team determined that a stem cell transplant is the only curative treatment option and offers her the best chance at long-term survival. Without a transplant, the disease can progress aggressively. A stem cell transplant is not a single procedure, but an intensive, months-long process that includes high-dose chemotherapy, a prolonged hospital stay, and a long recovery period while Erin’s immune system is rebuilt from the ground up. During this time, she will be highly vulnerable to infection, require frequent follow-up care, and be unable to work. She will also need to spend extended time hospitalized and in isolation, which means being separated from her husband and children for weeks at a time. 
 
While Erin’s focus must be on healing, the financial and logistical impact of this treatment is significant. This fund is intended to help ease that burden so she can prioritize recovery. Donations will help cover medical travel and lodging, medications and ongoing treatment costs, lost income during recovery, and everyday living expenses that continue throughout this process.
