<div>There is currently no running or potable water for 2 weeks minimum, electric or power, internet service, and groceries are becoming scarce for the welcoming and rad people who run Shakey’s.

<div>My friend Rachel has reached out to try and stir up any support for staff who have lost everything due to flooding. Some have had their entire homes and all their earthly possessions ripped from them during the 12 hours of Hurricane Helene, a category 4 hurricane that rampaged through Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Western North Carolina on September 26/27, 2024. Others have lost their cars, homes permanently damaged by fallen trees and flood water, and are stranded in Asheville due to interstate and local road closures.

<div><strong>Parts of I-40 have been washed away, and they are traveling several hours back and forth to surrounding areas for basic necessities: gallon jugs of water, gas for generators, canned/nonperishable foods, pet food, and basic toiletries like toothpaste, toothbrushes, and sanitary needs to support showers and personal hygiene.</strong>
