HELP JEFFREY BREATHE AND PREVENT HOMELESSNESS

Donation protected
My name is Grace Ann, a retired social worker and volunteer. I'm reaching out because someone I care deeply about is critically ill and at risk of homelessness.
Jeffrey was working two jobs and studying music composition when he became critically ill. After three months in the hospital, he was diagnosed chronic lung failure with sarcoidosis (previously diagnosed). He now requires continuous oxygen to stay alive and has been told he needs a double transplant.

Because he had no insurance when he became sick, he cannot yet be considered for the transplant---and he has had no income since February 2025. His disability claim, submitted in April, is still pending. His car has been repossessed. He cannot work. He has minimal family support in Michigan. He has now depleted all savings and his only assistance is SNAP (food stamps) and he is receiving reduced cost of medical treatment and pharmaceuticals through Grady Hospital Financial Program.

What he does have is a safe, stable, low rent apartment that has been his home for five years with no rental arrears. If he loses this apartment, he will almost certainly end up homeless, and he simply will not survive on the streets with his mandatory continuous oxygen supplementation, primarily electric powered. To downwardly spiral into eviction will be devastating and life threatening in his condition.

We have contacted every agency, nonprofit, church and hospital resources. There is no rental assistance available to him.

To keep Jeffrey medically stable and housed while he waits for disability approval, I am trying to raise $5250--five months of essential expenses.
  • $850 rent
  • $150 electricity (increased due to oxygen machine)
  • $50 phone
=. $1,050 per month

I will personally manage all contributions with full transparency so every dollar goes directly to Jeffrey's housing and utilities.

Jeffrey is fighting hard to live. He follows every medical directive, tries to stay hopeful, and dreams of one day returning to his music. With disability income and Medicare, he may finally be considered for the lung transplant he desperately needs.

But, for now, our immediate need is to keep him stable in his apartment until he can hopefully be approved for disability income and Medicare.

Thank you for any consideration you may give to Jeffrey. I will gladly continue to be his support person throughout his extremely challenging ordeal.
