Migrants Need Your Help!

Every day we hear stories of family separations, horrifying conditions in detention centers, and migrants being bused around the country to await processing by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).  

Asylum seekers come to our country because they are fleeing persecution and violence.  They  face long  waits for  "credible fear" interviews and  asylum hearing court dates and must file for asylum within one year of entry, even if they can't find an attorney.   They need legal representation to even have a chance to stay in this county.  Without such representation, they risk being sent back to the same conditions they fled and statistics show asylum seekers who have representation are more likely to win their asylum case than those without representation,  

Please  join me in making a difference.   I'm raising money to benefit Just Neighbors, a non-profit organization in Virginia that provides important legal services to immigrants.  Any donation will help make an impact.

For 23 years, the mission of Just Neighbors has been to provide immigration legal services to low-income immigrants and refugees of all faiths and nationalities, especially those who are most vulnerable.   Just Neighbors keeps families together, reunites separated families, prevents deportation of children and asylum seekers, and protects victims of domestic violence and human trafficking, and other violent crimes.

There is a national backlog of over 800,000 asylum cases pending and a desperate need for legal services.  Just Neighbors would like to establish additional legal clinics in areas that are underserved, and to have hire additional attorneys and pro-bono coordinators  to oversee recruitment and help manage the caseload of volunteer attorneys.
